I decided to create this website for a couple of reasons.  One, I want to maintain a sense of normalcy in my family’s life, so I hope this website will keep friends informed about this medical challenge without having it consume our lives.  I’m blessed to have many friends who want to help, so I will post our family’s needs on the Family Updates page of this website.

Secondly, I’m hopeful some of the thoughts and information on this website will help another who may be facing a similar challenge.

So, thank you for visiting my website.  May God bless you today and always.
My name is Sue, and I’m a breast cancer survivor.  I became a survivor the moment I heard my initial diagnosis of DCIS in April of 2003.   DCIS (ductal carcinoma in situ) is considered to be a preinvasive, very early stage (stage 0 out of stages 0 to 4) of breast cancer.  Because my husband had died in March of cancer, I chose aggressive treatment, bilateral mastectomies with lymph node dissection.  With this early clinical stage, I believed breast cancer treatment was part of my past.

But, I recently found a new lump, so I’m facing breast cancer for the second time.
